The Media Facades Festival Europe 2010 is co-organised by Kitchen Budapest and curated by Eszter Bircsák. Kitchen Budapest and Eszter Bircsák contribute artists’ projects to the Joint Broadcasting Events and are responsible for the implementation of the programme in Budapest.
KITCHEN BUDAPEST (KIBU), THE MAGYAR TELEKOM´S (HUNGARIAN TELCO) MEDIALAB
KIBU is a new media lab for young researchers with different background who are interested in the convergence of mobile communication, online communities and urban space, as well as the creation of experimental projects in cross-disciplinary teams.
Established in June 2007, KIBU regularly works on rapid prototyping projects, new media researches and organizes workshops that present prototypes or projects from related institutions and professionals. KIBU aspires to post questions that will enable researchers to rethink and remix the possibilities of new media in everyday life alongside challenge the connections between new technologies and society.
KIBU opens a direct path where ideas and prototypes reach a large audience and create opportunities for them to materialise either within the cultural context or commercial market.
Eszter Bircsák is an art historian and cultural manager, freelance curator interested in emerging technologies in contemporary art. Eszter is working as project supervisor of the KIBU education. Her research focuses on revival of video art, and archive-technologies in motion picture (experimental film, video, digital pictures in inventories, archives, databases) like in her long-time programme where she tried to present three European video database institutes with various methods.
